Malborghetto

The Centuries-old Linden

In the garden of the Palazzo Veneziano in Malborghetto lives the oldest citizen of the village. The monumental linden tree is more than four hundred years old; it was already large when Napoleon's troops passed through Malborghetto. With MACA, its story gains a voice.

For more than four hundred years, the Linden Tree has stood there, still and silent, while the world around it changed completely. It has seen empires and armies pass by, lived through two world wars, witnessed the birth of Italy and the economic evolution from fields to tourism. It is the only witness to all this and, for that reason, it is, in every sense, the oldest citizen of Valcanale.
The MACA route of the Ancient Linden Tree unfolds in the garden of the prestigious Palazzo Veneziano and takes no more than twenty minutes. It is not a walk; it is an encounter. With MACA, the tree gains a voice: the app tells its story, its age, its extraordinary dimensions and the connection between this linden tree and the history of the palace that hosts it, one of the most beautiful buildings in Valcanale.
The garden is freely accessible all year round, except during special events.
Download the MACA app and go and visit the Linden Tree.
