Before the cable car existed, the only way to reach the sanctuary of Monte Lussari was on foot. For centuries, pilgrims from across the Alpine arc climbed this slope - in sun, snow and rain - following the same trail: the Pilgrim Trail. Walking it means, in a way, doing the same thing.
The route climbs from Camporosso for five kilometres with almost one thousand metres of elevation gain: demanding, without mincing words, but within reach of anyone with good physical preparation and the right shoes. The trail crosses the dense forest of the northern slope, with the landscape changing progressively with altitude until it reaches the medieval village of Monte Lussari, immersed in the splendour of the Julian Alps - a reward for every metre climbed.
With MACA, the route gains an additional dimension. The app-guided stops tell the history of the devotional path, the traditions linked to the sanctuary and the details of the Alpine landscape crossed on the way up, transforming a beautiful hike into an experience that makes sense beyond physical effort.
The trail can be walked all year round. In winter, with snow, it becomes a ski-mountaineering or snowshoeing itinerary; microspikes are essential and winter mountain experience is recommended. In every season: trekking shoes, poles and suitable clothing.
